Meet Kim

Hello! I’m Kim Hyam (she/her), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Oregon. I offer individual therapy for people ages 17 and older, both through telehealth and in person at PSC’s Beaverton office.

I work with people navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship concerns, and life transitions. Sometimes there’s a clear event that brings you to therapy. Other times, something feels off or unsatisfying, but it’s harder to name. I welcome both starting points. Over the course of my career, I’ve been moved by the resilience, courage, and desire for connection I’ve seen in the people I’ve worked with.

You Might Be a Good Fit If...

You want to better understand yourself, your relationships, and what may be getting in the way of a more meaningful life. You may be:

  • Asking yourself, “Why do I feel so stuck?” or “Why is it hard for me to open up?”

  • Feeling anxious, depressed, irritable, or overwhelmed.

  • Grieving a loss or adjusting to a significant change.

  • Living with the effects of trauma or difficult past experiences.

  • Noticing relationship patterns you’d like to understand.

  • Experiencing conflicting emotions that are hard to sort through.

  • Looking for a therapist who will think alongside you and share observations, while welcoming your perspective in return.

How I Work

Therapy with me is a conversation we develop together. I’ll listen closely, share my thoughts about what might be troubling you, and check whether those thoughts fit your experience. As we meet regularly, we can become more familiar with your emotional terrain and the patterns that show up in your life and relationships.

I’m especially well suited to people who want to work collaboratively and are interested in reflection and self-understanding. Depending on what you need, we may also focus on practical ways to manage stress, improve sleep, navigate conflict, or respond differently to situations you tend to avoid. At times, it may be helpful to include a family member briefly in your individual therapy when that supports your goals.

My Approach

My style is primarily psychodynamic and relational. I’m interested in how your experiences and relationships shape what you feel and do today, and in how greater understanding can help relieve distress. I also draw from other approaches when they fit your needs.

My clinical approach may include: Psychodynamic Therapy · Relational Therapy · Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) · Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills · Mindfulness · Stress Management · Conflict Resolution
