Meet Ilene
Hello! I’m Ilene Schechter (she/her), a licensed psychologist in Oregon. I offer individual virtual therapy for adults ages 18 and older.
I have specialized training and experience in complex and developmental trauma, including intergenerational trauma. I also work with people navigating chronic illness or pain and the emotional, psychological, and social challenges that can come with living with a chronic condition. Other areas of my practice include anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, and stress.

How I Work
I approach therapy as a relationship in which we can take time to understand what you’re experiencing. We can look at the concerns that bring you in, the patterns you notice in your life, and the experiences that may help explain them.
For people living with trauma or chronic health concerns, there can be many layers to what is happening. Our work can make room for the emotional and relational effects of those experiences, alongside the practical realities of daily life. We’ll pay attention to what feels most relevant to you and let your goals guide where we focus.
My Approach
My therapy style is relational and integrative, with a foundation in psychodynamic theory. I’m interested in how past experiences, relationships, and present circumstances connect. I draw on that understanding to help us explore your concerns with depth and attention to your individual experience.
