Group Therapy

Resilient Together

This group is for people struggling mentally and emotionally to manage persistent physical pain on their own. When pain persists past three months, the brain can get too good at making pain in effort to protect the body. To address that issue, this group therapy draws from neuroscience-based strategies in the book Explain Pain toward improving pain management and reducing pain responses. This is an ongoing process-oriented group in which participants are invited to support one another in coping with the mental and emotional distress that persistent pain can cause and encourage each other in utilizing pain management strategies to help reduce pain states.

Pre-Requisite: Knowledge of Explain Pain strategies is a pre-requisite, which can be obtained by our reoccurring 6-week Explain Pain group or meeting with Tressa for 1-2 individual sessions to learn about these approaches to pain management. Because this is an ongoing group, participants are welcome to continue in the group as long as it is beneficial to them.
