Marina Parker, LPC, LMFT
Licensed Professional Counselor & Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
-
I began my education by earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Oregon in 2018. During my time as an undergraduate, I spent time working at a nonprofit agency for girl-identified youth ages 10-18 providing mental health support. I also volunteered in a social learning lab on campus working on a study involving foster youth and social emotional learning.
I remained at University of Oregon for my Master of Science in Couples and Family Therapy which I completed in 2020. I believe that entering the therapy field directly post-COVID has allowed me a unique perspective and an eagerness to improve mental health in my community! Since graduating I have focused my efforts in outpatient mental health working with a wide variety of clients. -
ADHD, Anger and Irritability, Anxiety Disorders, Depressive Disorders, Family Conflict, Life Transitions, Relationship Concerns, Trauma and Stress
-
Individual therapy, family therapy, and couples/relationship therapy.
Ages 16-75. Virtual and in-person sessions.
Hello! I'm Marina Parker (she/her), LPC, LMFT. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in the state of Oregon. In the world of therapy, I believe that relationships are everything: between myself and my clients, my clients and their environment, and the environment to the people I serve. In my therapy space you will be valued, respected, and heard. I thrive on collaboration and feedback, and I believe that therapy is an ever-evolving space where my clients and I work together to provide an experience that is affirming and congruent with my clients' needs. I am honored to have the privilege of serving my community in this way!
Are you a good clinical fit?
I firmly operate from the stance that you are the expert on your own life, and that any professional expertise I can add to the process is supplemental to your knowledge about yourself. That said, I have several areas of special interests that I am particularly passionate about! I love working with clients on topics related to ADHD, anxiety, anger, and complex trauma. I also have a deep passion for relational work, whether it's with families or intimate partner systems. I work well with clients who are first-timers in therapy, or people who are returning to therapy with specific needs! I believe you are deserving of support whether or not we end up being a good clinical fit, and I will support you in whatever way I can for the duration of our time together.
My Approach
My approach to mental health is systemic, emotion focused, and narrative-driven. I believe that our environment influences us in a multi-directional way, and that as humans we can have a profound impact on our environment. I like to explore connections in therapy, whether it's between your emotions and self talk or between yourself and others in your life. My clients are encouraged to be authentically themselves in my therapy space, and feel free to show up however they need to. I like to operate from the 'beginner's mindset', meaning that I believe I can always be learning and growing! In my therapy, I utilize a variety of models including systemic theory, Emotion Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and CBT.
I look forward to working with you!
